Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria...

... also known as Kölner Dom, or Cologne Cathedral, begun in the 13th century. It is the largest Gothic church in northern Europe. It looms over the city of Cologne, which was destroyed by bombs in the second world war, and, as such, is not very nice (especially compared to countless beautiful German cities like Munich and Nuremberg). These pictures are from two days ago, but I am just posting them now...

The transept.


This sculpture on the square in front of the cathedral is a life-size replica of the top of the cathedral's two spires, which are 157 metres tall.
