We drank this yesterday in Liege at a corner cafe in the sun. The waiter told us that this was their special Easter amber ale. It was typical of a Belgian lambic, and tasted of either ligonberries or light raspberries. We didn't expect a lambic, so that was a surprise, but the beer was refreshing after our walk through town.
The Leffe brewery, based in Namur near Wallonia, was unfortunately bought by InBev/Anheuser-Busch, but it does not seem to have suffered yet. If anything, this move will expose more Americans to the beer. On the other hand, any merger/acquisition of a food or drink company eventually has drawbacks, so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed...
